Kirstie Kimball is an old-school food writer for the 21st century.
ABOUT
Kirstie writes beyond beurre blanc, an independent media publication focused on Minnesota’s food scene and national restaurant culture pieces. She has eaten at more than ¼ of the restaurants in Minnesota, focusing not just on the cities, but the great rural expanse.
Kirstie also uses her platform for rapid response mutual aid, documenting her journey with stage one triple negative breast cancer, and sharing photos of her Labubus. She lives in Uptown, Minneapolis with her four cats, three dogs, and one squirrel she’s at war with over access to the trash (she’s losing).
CURRENT WORK
In addition to beyond beurre blanc, Kirstie writes for local indie alt-weekly Racket. Her mutual aid work has been highlighted by everyone from Autostraddle to The Guardian. She began querying her memoir Eating Alone in early 2026. Below are highlights of her work.

CONTACT
Kirstie is entirely independent. This means she does not accept invitations to restaurants, brand deals, or sponsorships.
She does not accept requests to contribute to publications where the cost of the meal is greater than the pay rate for the publication. She welcomes invitations to relevant podcasts and loves writing for snappy, bold editors.
